Seventy-nine years later, Bethany continues to seek to be the hands and feet of Jesus by caring for the most vulnerable in our midst. Though our mission has not changed, our “midst” has expanded from the city of Grand Rapids to locations across the country and around the world. The recipients of Bethany’s care and protection are no longer just infants, but have grown to include women in crisis pregnancies, children in the foster care system, families in need of stabilization, refugees both within and outside the United States, and vulnerable youth.

Brief Description of Your Organization's Activities: Boys Farm is a Christian, charitable and educational children’s home. We have been working with boys from various parts of South Carolina in a residential setting for over 60 years. Boys Farm was founded in 1960 by Reverend and Mrs. W. D. Shealy, Jr. (Pop & Mama). Preparation for this work was begun many years before in Charleston, SC, where the Shealy's were owners of a large, successful ice cream business. When they felt called into Christian ministry, they sold their home and business and went off to prepare for the ministry. As the couple sought God's direction, He led them to establish a home for disadvantaged boys. They bought the current site with their own resources and began the work to which God had called them, provide a home for at-risk children. Our activities are centered around creating a family oriented home for at-risk children. Up to 8 children live in a house with a married christian couple. The house parents instill in the children good work ethic and citizenship and share the gospel through church worship and family worship. The children participate in daily chores in the house and outside to help maintain our campus. We stress the importance of good academic outcomes and the children have access to after school tutoring and a reading competition during the summer months to keep them on track academically. The children participate in weekly organized sports and exercise activities and help out with the summer gardens and farm animals. During the summer months the children participate in Christian summer camps in the mountains and the beach. We also have a strong focus on assisting the children as they turn 18 and prepare to live on their own. We have a structured program that provides shelter and support as children become adults and begin to learn to become independent.

Manner in which your organization shares the gospel of Jesus Christ: We seek to share the gospel of Jesus Christ in a multitude of ways. The houseparents are expected to exemplify Christ in their daily activities and share Christ as opportunities present themselves. Each of the houses attend weekly Sunday worship service at local churches as well as Wednesday youth Bible study. During the week, in the houses, the families participate in evening devotions and family worship. Children are encouraged to express and share their faith during these times of fellowship and worship.

A faith-based, 9-month transitional housing/shelter program for women in recovery and homeless women.  While at the Center women will receive addiction recovery assistance(as needed), employment and education for increasing job skills, and classes teaching various life-skills to become economically self-sufficient.  We provide a safe, loving place to heal and grown emotionally and spiritually.

Child Evangelism Fellowship®, also known as CEF®, is a Bible-centered, worldwide organization composed of born-again believers whose purpose is to evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, disciple them in the Word of God, and establish them in the local church. CEF has over 1,200 missionaries overseas, approximately 1,000 of whom are nationals. In the USA and Canada 700 full-time workers and an estimated 40,000 volunteers serve the ministry. CEF was founded by Jesse Irvin Overholtzer in 1937.

Brief Description of Your Organization's Activities: CEF of the Greater Pee Dee has different types of evangelistic/discipleship/training programs. These include Good News Club (our most recognized), Christian Youth In Action(CYIA), 5-Day Club (summer clubs), and others. Each of these programs are designed to work through the church in accord with our purpose statement. This is accomplished through the activity of enlisting churches and volunteers, equipping those whom God has burdened for Gospel centered children's ministry, and encouraging believers to urgently serve for the harvest is white.

Manner in which your organization shares the gospel of Jesus Christ: We share the Gospel at every event/program/gathering. The Gospel of Jesus crucified, buried and raised again for the forgiveness of sins for all who believe is given clearly and includes an invitation for response. As children respond, we talk with them one-on-one with a no pressure technique we call Guiding A Child to the Savior. This uses open ended questions to ensure the child understands the message of the Gospel and the God given invitation on how they can be saved from their sin - by belief in Jesus (Acts 16:31). We do not lead "pray after me" parroting, rather we prompt for the child to pray on their own based on the topics discussed during the Guiding time. For more information, we have a training class called "Guiding a Child to the Savior" that every Bible lesson teacher and volunteer working one-on-one with children must complete beforehand.

Chosen Children Ministries seeks to make Christ know and bring Life-Transformation to men, women, and children in Nicaragua. Our primary focus is church planting. We currently have 26 churches in Nicaragua where we serve families who live on about $2/day. We plan and provide Large Conferences for female athletes and coaches in three separate age divisions; Elementary School, Middle and High School, and College. These include age-appropriate breakout sessions led by professionals on topics including Self Esteem, Identity and Value, Social Media, Bullying, Peer Pressure, Anxiety, Depression, Suicide, Human Trafficking, Body Image, Eating Disorders, and Life After Sports. Our conference ends with a motivating and inspirational challenge from nationally recognized women in the sports world.

We provide Luncheons, Events, and Retreats specifically for female coaches to encourage and equip them as they lead and influence the girls they coach. This includes a “Moms Who Coach” support group.

We provide and lead Team Dynamics Development for individual teams, meeting with them and using biblical principles and resources to guide and encourage the teams.

We are very excited to be in the process of publishing the FACES of Total Victory Devotional Bible to give to all who participate in these events. This will be the first Devotional Bible with content included specifically for female athletes and coaches, as all the devotions are being written by women who competed at the professional, Olympic, or collegiate level. JumpStart Ministry is committed to the goal of providing Christian assistance in the areas of preparation, provision, and placement to prisoners who are 2 years or less within their max out or parole date. Preparation will start with our qualified re-entry program called J.U.M.P. (Just Using Master's Plan) S.T.A.R.T. (Staying True After Release Time) prior to release by the SC Department of Corrections. Provision to ex-offenders will include assistance with transitional housing, jobs, and mentoring for 1 year after release (only those who have graduated). Placement will include assisting individuals with buying their first homes after successful completion of 2 years of our inside/outside re-entry program.

Lighthouse for Life has provided direct services to over 40 surivovrs of human trafficking. These services include networking or referals to legal assistance, counseling, medical services, transportation, housing, food, clothing, etc. 

Restoration

Lighthouse for Life is pursuing opening a safe home for females age 12-21 who are rescued from sex trafficking. This home will serve residents from all over SC. The home is located in Richland County. The home is furnished and we are debt free.

We have titled this Program Karis Home. Karis is the Greek word for grace. The core value of our ministry is "grace wins." Christ has demonstrated his grace for us by giving His life to redeem us.  Our staff will in turn demonstrate grace and love to our residents.  Karis Home is designed to be a long term restoration home that will house up to 5 survivors at a time. We will offer a trauma informed program unique designed with Individual Care Plans taylored to each resident. We will provide all necessary things for the resdients including education, counseling, medical care, etc. Karis Home is a licensed safe home with the South Carolina Department of Social Services. We are a contracted Level 3 program. We are currently hiring and training caregivers and desire to open our doors to residents as soon as possible.

Empowerment

Lighthouse for Life offers other avenues of ministry with the aim of bringing awareness and restoration to vulnerable populations in SC. We also provide resources for parents in order to equip them to make every home a safe and grace filled home. Resources can be found on our webpage to use to educate girls, boys and adults on body image, cyber bullying, online safety, pornography prevention, grooming, etc.

Outreach Ministries

NCCAA uses intercollegiate athletics to further the Great Commission. Established in 1968, the NCCAA is an association of Christ-centered collegiate institutions whose mission is to use athletic competition as an integral component of education, evangelism, and encouragement.

North Strand Housing Shelter (NSHS) is a dba of Worldview Ministry International, Inc., a 501(c)3 faith based charitable corporation.

The NSHS mission is to help homeless men, women, families, and veterans, who want to change their lives & circumstances. The mission includes helping our guests regain independence and re-enter the community as employees and/or as residents. After arrival, the shelter facilitates the guests' connection with local agencies and other resources that include: counseling, case management, Bible study and church services, life skill classes, resume writing, job training classes and financial budgeting.

NSHS, celebrating 10 years of operation, is located on Highway 9 West in Longs, SC near North Myrtle Beach. The  campus includes an older transitional housing building (3000 sq. Ft.) that houses veterans and a second building (5000 sq. Ft.), built in 2015, providing emergency housing for families, veterans and individuals. Four staff members and many community volunteers assist between 125-175 individuals each year. The shelter success rate for finding employment/housing or a return ticket home was 87% in 2019.  In January of 2020, 12.36 acres of unimproved property was purchased near the current shelter, with a vision to build affordable housing in clusters and a youth community center.

The Proactive Parenting Initiative’s (PPI) purpose is to plant

parent education centers in communities that are welcoming to the organization. The goal is to train

parents to be the positive influence in the lives of their children so that their children become

productive members of our society. To that end, educational training classes are given to parents on

how to respond to unwanted behaviors being exhibited by their children. Parents are taught to control

the child’s environment rather than trying to control the child. The core beliefs of the programs are to

praise good behaviors, to reward work, and to implement consequences for unwanted behaviors.

Consequences are focused on taking away a child’s list of desires for a short period of time.

Additionally, Proactive Parenting Initiative conducts weekend TEASPOT’s (Take Everything Away for a

Short Period of Time). This practical experiential training is based upon the teachings of the Parent

Project®’s curriculum.

Mission Statement or Ministry Purpose: SaveOne serves the community as a recovery program, in the form of a bible study to help ANYONE who is abortion wounded or who has experienced sexual trauma, to find healing and freedom in Jesus Christ.

Brief Description of Your Organization's Activities: We meet with participants for 10-12 weeks, in a group or one on one with a chapter leader and walk through their trauma in a biblical approach. We rely on the Lord, provide support, and HE does ALL the heavy lifting.

Along with victims of trauma we aim to providewrap-around services to families with special needs children. Navigating services for special needschildren can be a daunting task without support. We are here to offer that support in the ways ofcounseling, education, advocacy, mentors, support groups and referrals.

Partners with local churchesto form support groups for trauma victims and special needs parents. Offering the love of Christ tothose who are hurting and feel helpless through counseling and church referrals.

Shade Tree Ministries offers free of charge a place for pastors, missionaries and para-church organizational leaders to join their spouse in a few days retreat and respite. Various locations are available, but primarily at Shade Tree headquarters on Lake Keowee, Seneca, SC. Secondly, we host luncheons for pastors, staff retgreats, heads of organizations and multiple retreat formats for Christian leaders. Thirdly, our president, Mark, conducts weekly Bible Studies for unchurched men, speaks in church settings and conferences and offers counsel to Chrstian leaders around the world. Brief Description of Your Organization's Activities: Through dynamic leadership experiences held at the State Capitol, TeenPact South Carolina provide hands-on civics education, leadership training, and Christian discipleship through its core program–the annual Four Day State Class for teens and the One Day State Class for younger students aged 8 to 12.

The State Class program exists to train and motivate teens and younger students to become informed, active citizens who value their liberty and who choose to be Christ-like servant leaders in all spheres of life. By providing discipleship and leadership opportunities, as well as skill training, TeenPact South Carolina equips students to become biblically-aligned leaders in their communities now and in the future.

Mission Statement or Ministry Purpose: Our Mission statement is...To provide a safe and nurturing environment that will reveal the word of God through our initiative and allow children to grow in their faith after school hours.

We wish to engage our community directly by servicing their needs. One way to do this is by launching an after-school care program for the 2 local elementary schools and 1 middle school in the Aynor area. This is a way to directly extend ourselves to our community as a faith based group.

We strive to "connect our faith to our community". We currently give and serve in local and national missions, have an AA group, and 4 home-based small groups that meet routinely.

We love to minister to young people and want them to know biblical hope and God’s love, no matter their background or circumstance. For over 50 years, It has been our privilege to partner with our areas local churches and agencies in the Upstate to get young people from 9-17 years of age to a beautiful, safe, outdoor environment. Hikes to majestic waterfalls and zany, spirit-building activities and “hanging out time” with new friends bring life-long memories to kids who crave good relationships.

Manner in which your organization shares the gospel of Jesus Christ:

A qualified, dedicated group of college-aged young adults live with the campers as friends and servant-minded influencers in a small group cabin setting. Also, experienced youth speakers, who love to communicate the gospel to young people, are a part of gospel presentations each week.

The purpose of all the fun and adventure is for them to get to know Jesus Christ as Savior, Lord, and friend through the hearing of God’s Word in the large group, cabin-sized group, and as individuals. We have appreciated the encouragement of SCCF in a team effort to make a wholesome, out-of-door environment available to young people who would not otherwise have the opportunity.

Brief Description of Your Organization's Activities: Trail Life USA is a Church-Based, Christ-Centered, Boy-Focused mentoring and discipleship journey that speaks to the heart of a boy. Established on timeless values derived from the Bible and set in the context of outdoor adventure, boys from Kindergarten through 12th grade are engaged in a Troop setting by male mentors where they are challenged to grow in character, understand their purpose, serve their community, and develop practical leadership skills to carry out the mission for which they were created.

Water is essential to human life.  It is the center of economic and social development and vital to maintain health, grow food, generate energy, manage the environment, and create jobs. Clean drinking water and sanitation are essential to the realization of all human rights. When people do not have access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation, the impact on the population is devastating, leading to a global crisis. According to the World Economic Forum’s 2015 global risk report, the Global Water Crisis is now the number one global risk based on its impact on society.

Currently, 2.2 billion people around the world lack access to safe water. That’s one-third of the world’s population.  According to a recent report by the World Health Organization (WHO) and United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF), more than 263 million people spent over 30 minutes round trip collecting water from an unimproved source. An estimated 4.2 billion people live without adequate sanitation, and one person dies every 37 seconds from water-related illnesses.  Children are the most affected: an estimated 760,000 children under the age of five die each year from diarrheal diseases globally. Women and children spend hours walking an average of 3 miles each day collecting water that is contaminated and will likely make their families sick. The global water crisis is real and it is urgent.

Water Mission is a Christian engineering nonprofit that designs, builds, and implements safe water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) solutions for people in developing countries and disaster areas. Since 2001, Water Mission has used innovative technology and engineering expertise to provide access to safe water for more than 7 million people in 57 countries. Water Mission has over 400 staff members working around the world in permanent country programs located in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean.  Notably, Charity Navigator has awarded Water Mission its top four-star rating for 15 consecutive years, a distinction shared by only 1% of charities rated by the organization. 

Water Mission was founded in 2001 by George and Molly Greene, who at the time owned an environmental engineering and analytical firm. They decided to apply the same engineering discipline toward a non-profit endeavor focused on providing safe water and sanitation solutions for people in developing countries and disaster situations. 

Water Mission was born out of the need for safe water as a result of a disaster, responding in Honduras after Hurricane Mitch. Since then, we have provided relief following some of the world’s most devastating natural and humanitarian disasters, including most recently: Texas Arctic Storms; Earthquakes in Indonesia; Hurricanes Eta and Iota in Honduras; Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas; Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico; Rohingya Refugees in Bangladesh; Cyclone Idai in Malawi and Mozambique; Earthquake and Tsunami in Indonesia; Refugees in Uganda and Tanzania; and many, many more. 

Mission Statement or Ministry Purpose: To reach every kid with the gospel in South Carolina. To allow space for teen moms to grow in their relationship with Jesus by connecting with other teen moms in their communities and mentors that encourage growth achieved by loving, positive relationships and having some of their tangible needs met. We want to help them focus on the bigger picture, how God made them to be and how to raise the next generation to live in this world as a children of God. We are focused on the furthest out kid, the kid that may not have a lot of opportunity to see positivity in their world, the isolated kid and the over looked kid. These are our prayers for our community.

Brief Description of Your Organization's Activities: We host weekly gatherings that accommodate teen mammas and their babies. We provide meals, a safe place to gather, community and bible studies in a fun welcoming environment. We have amazing volunteers (that are background checked) to care for babies after dinner. We play games and have fun skits that show the love of Jesus. Outside of our events, we hang out with mammas and their babies at parks, meet them for coffee, take them on errands and walk out our faith with them. We share family meals with them, shed tears and help them find essentials within their community. When they need something we help them find the best ways to get it. We have a running list of counselors, pediatricians, as well as, scholarships for them or their babies to go to school.

We believe in the holy trinity...father, son and holy spirit. We meet kids where they are and get to know them enough to speak in to their lives. We invest in kids with the hope of discipleship in the future.
